Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:52:21 Europe/London

The Fairtrade folks organising the Big Swap have partnered with some musicians and Cadburys and released an album.

If you're a fan of Paolo Nutini, or the Big Ghana Band, all you have to do is head over to their site, and let them know about the Fairtrade Big Swap you've made. After that, you can download your free album. Nice.

Here's the track-listing for the album:

  • . Pencil Full Of Lead – Paolo Nutini Feat. The Big Ghana Band
  • Sound Of The Underground – Covered by The Big Ghana Band
  • You spin me round – Covered by The Big Ghana Band
  • Ooh La La – Covered by The Big Ghana Band
  • Unbelievable – Covered by The Big Ghana Band
  • One Day Like This – Covered by The Big Ghana Band
  • Zingolo – Feat. Tinny
  • Bonus – Zingolo Sway Remix

And of course, if you're looking for something to make the Swap with, we can help you with some Fairtrade special offers there!. We've got an earlier post too that explains a bit more about the 2 week Big Swap

Fair Trade Fortnight - The Big Swap

Monday, 22 February 2010 09:10:00 Europe/London

We are taking part in the promotion of Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from 22 February – 8 March 2010. This year’s theme is ‘The Big Swap’.

To take part in The Big Swap we want people to buy and think fair trade – by swapping your usual cup of tea or coffee for a fair trade cup of tea or coffee, or swapping your usual chocolate or biscuits for fair trade chocolate or biscuits.

In Healthwise we are offering 10% off our full range of Fairtrade products for the duration of Fairtrade Fortnight.

Fairtrade is all about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. It requires companies to pay sustainable prices, which must never fall lower than the market price. Fairtrade also includes progress requirements that encourage continuous improvement to develop farmers' organisations or the situation of estate workers.

By imposing these standards Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

Come visit us at Lower Abbeygate Street, Galway during Fairtrade Fortnight to avail of our special offers and swap your products for Fairtrade product. Also see our Fair Trade page for details of items we are promoting.

You should also have a read about Fairtrade Fortnight and what they are doing to promote it
