Cold Pressed from the seed, Castor Oil can be used externally and internally.
Castor Oil Packs: These are traditionally used for removing cysts, lumps and growths from inside the body and for increasing circulation and detoxification from a specific area of the body. Soak a flannel in warm castor oil and apply to the affected area. Cover with a plastic bag, place a hot water bottle on top and cover with a towel for 20 minutes. Use 3 times per week.
Castor Oil Purgation: This is a strong treatment but is very useful for clearing congestion, reducing menstrual pain and regulating the movement of 'vata' downwards. Take 1-3 teaspoons of castor oil off the spoon swallowed down with warm ginger tea before bed. Usually this procedure results in 2-3 bowel movements the next morning. Only do this on a clear day if you are feeling relatively strong.
Caution: Do Not use if Pregnancy is suspected.
